Chennai college shines in Freedom

By Mohanji Acharya Rekha Murali

19th February 2020

I was invited by JBAS college for women, Chennai (India) as a speaker for a program titled ‘Sparkle 2020’. The program was meant for Grade 12 students who would be facing their board exams shortly.  Approximately 800 students participated in this event.  The students were cheerful, noisy, and clapped loudly for things that grabbed their interest.

As a part of the program, a ten-minute breathing technique and ‘Freedom’ meditation were conducted. The students did the breathing techniques with ease and settled down very comfortably for the meditation. A beautiful sense of calm and peace settled into the auditorium.

At the end of the meditation, there was a moment’s pause after which the students clapped appreciatively which conveyed a lot of respect for the meditation. The students received it well and their beautiful smiles spoke volumes.

Thank you Mohanji for such a powerful gift of ‘Freedom’ meditation for the children.

Kolkata in Mohanji’s Consciousness

By Mohanji Acharyas Soma Seal and Sunita Madan

18th January 2020

A short Acharya programme was conducted at Baghbazar Sarada Prathamik Vidyalaya, a school for underprivileged children, in Kolkata, India. There were 30 children in the age group of 6 to 13 years.

We had an interesting yoga session and the children willingly participated and even showed us some of their own yoga skills. The yoga session was followed by ‘Freedom’ meditation. Most of them were first-time-meditators; however, they all enjoyed the peace that the meditation brought.

Afterwards, we had a story-telling session, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. The authorities in the school requested us to conduct these sessions more often, as they felt that these sessions would help to calm the children. They were all given drawing books and crayons. We also distributed sweet buns and lentil soup. It was indeed heart-warming to spend an afternoon with these children. With the blessings of Mohanji, we hope to keep adding positivity in their lives.

Bangalore children in Mohanji’s Consciousness

By Mohanji Acharya Ulla Bernholdt

28-29th December 2019

By the Grace of Mohanji and with the help of Mohanji Acharya Arpana Nazre and head of the school Harsanjam Kaur, I was able to visit the two Mohanji Ka Aangans (An Ammucare initiative) in Bangalore to conduct creative programs for the children.

At the first Aangan, we started the program by playing a game. We then guided the children to create fantasy animals with homemade play dough and other materials I brought. During the activity, there was almost pin-drop silence as the children were so absorbed in their creativity. After they completed their work, they displayed their work proudly. We could tell by their smiling faces that they all enjoyed this.

I wanted them to have an opportunity to express themselves freely on their terms. I think they succeeded.

In the second Aangan, we even had time for coloring paper dolls.

Before the children went home, deep breathing exercises, ‘Om’ chanting and the ‘Freedom’ meditation were conducted. They all received snacks as rewards and we greeted each other happily for the New Year.

It was a happy weekend full of fun and love and I am deeply grateful to Mohanji for giving me a platform to perform as an Acharya like this!

Stability in Mohanji’s Consciousness

By Mohanji Acharya Sathya Shivakumar

October 18th, 2019

The sixth session of “Stability in Mohanji’s consciousness” was conducted on Friday, October 18th 2019 at Navachetana Trust -School for special children in Bangalore.

This session followed the dussehra holidays. I had conducted two sessions before the school closed for vacation. Every session brings out something new and interesting. I had organized the fourth session on September 6th. That morning I had woken up with the thought of one of the special kids and taking that as a sign, decided to conduct the session on the same day without postponement.

My sister Radha had accompanied me on all the previous three sessions. I called her up and found out that she was busy with other plans that day. I decided to go ahead alone since the inner signal was strong. Much to my delight, as I entered the school that morning, a boy greeted me with a beaming smile. His eyes scanned around as if looking for someone along with me. As we went in, another child explicitly asked me, “Akka bhandilva” (Has your sister not come today?). I was touched by their recollection given their disposition.

img1

When she joined me during session 5, the kids welcomed her warmly and even reserved a space for her to sit next to them. Little gestures such as these, which we take for granted usually, add so much beauty to life and also reinforces that the best things in life are free! Blessings are bestowed upon us every second by the universe in subtle ways. We only need to be mindful, conscious and aware of them. During those two sessions, we recited bhajans and conducted the Freedom meditation followed by the Gurupaduka stotram.

Our most recent session last Friday started with bhajans followed by Freedom meditation given by Mohanji, as always.

The previous week, I had experienced shoulder cramps. Nagging pain in my right shoulder, the reason for which I couldn’t pinpoint. There were bursts of pain throughout the day that caused extreme discomfort and did not allow me to perform my regular activities. The pain acted as a reminder to me of those who need Mohanji and the healing process. I was also reminded of what Mohanji had once said to a person who had met him,

“There’s no use of acquiring something that has to be parked. It will only gather dust.” – Mohanji

Although I had become eligible to give Mohanji Energy Transfer (MET), I had not yet been applying it in my sessions. I was not rushing because I wanted to get familiar with the kids before opening them up to MET. This time, however, I was contemplating on doing the MET for the first time. Maybe it was the personal experiences of the prior week that acted as a reminder to initiate it, one wonders?

img3

As I started the process, I prayed to our Guru and the Gods silently. The first batch was the younger group. I could feel the energy flow and connected to Mohanji as I handled the different children. Most of them received it well but some resisted even as I placed my thumb on their forehead. I did not push them because they probably needed more time to be ready for it. During the session for the older group, I was able to perform MET to most of them. After the MET session, there was so much joy and gratitude in their faces that revealed all that they wanted to say.

Each time I conduct these sessions, I leave the school with a feeling of satisfaction and a deep sense of gratitude that through these sessions, I can provide a few hours of peace and calm in their otherwise challenging days. I am certain that Mohanji’s blessings would bring stability & light into their lives and I pray that the Guru Mandala continues to make me an instrument in this process.

When the heart expands with love, heaven descends into us. – Mohanji

A step towards Freedom

by Mohanji Acharya Rekha Murali

8th October 2019

On the auspicious day of Vijayadasami, an hour long program on chanting, reciting slokas and meditation was conducted in Chennai, India, for students in the age group of 5 to 13 years with Mohanji’s grace. It was also the day of Shirdi Sai Baba’s Mahasamadhi. All of them were my students and hence were familiar with each other. It was a small cohesive group of 8 children and two mothers, one of whom was Sudeshna Ganguly from our M family. She participated and assisted with the program.

After the initial introductions, the program commenced with stories of the Navratri festival being celebrated then. It was an interactive and lively session where children enthusiastically shared their knowledge of the festivities. The students were then led into a discussion to understand that the celebrations depict the victory of good over evil. The children shared some of the negative qualities within them that could be changed to improve themselves.

This was followed by exercises on watching the breath and chanting of Om. The initial restlessness and excitement of being together disappeared with this chanting. They were calm and ready for the next part of the program which was reciting slokas. Slokas on Ganesha, Saraswathi, Guru and Gayatri were taught. Each child was given a copy of the slokas.

To prepare for the freedom meditation that was to follow, mild stretches were done. The meditation commenced with the chanting of Om and the children easily slipped into meditation. At the end of the meditation, they were unanimous in their appreciation of the meditation as they were all doing it for the first time.

Here are some of the experiences of the children:

Visvesh (13 years old): “I am in a limitless plain white background and I feel hollow and transparent on the inside.”

Varun (5 years old): “There was snow and I was skating on ice.”

Sahana (6 years old): “I felt weird as I was flying like a bird.”

Shrestha (8 years old): “Free and pleasant”

Nishthaa (12 years old): “Peace”

Sanjay (10 years old): “I felt as if I was flying in the sky with nobody around, with unlimited space above.”

Sangeetha (a parent): “It was a lovely feeling. Meditation is always about knowing more of our inner self in that elevated state. Especially with the little children, their combined energy that evening gave a fabulous feeling. Thank you for the opportunity, Rekha, looking forward to more experiences like this.”

With this pleasant feeling, we wrapped up our program with hugs, chocolates and small gifts for the students.

Powerful vibrations and Mohanji’s energy was strongly felt during the program. The way the children quietened down after the initial excitement was proof in itself. Thank you Mohanji! I have tried to conduct this program for the last three years and it was only this year that I could get 8 children to participate. This is again ample proof that it cannot happen without Mohanji’s grace.

Playful yoga in Mohanji’s Consciousness

By Mohanji Acharya Stasa Misic

21 September 2019

On Saturday, with Mohanji‘s blessings, I conducted the first program of “Playful Yoga” for the new school year in Novi Sad, in a beautiful place called ‘Sathya Yoga Centre’.

The program started off with an explanation and chanting of the sound ‘AUM’ and breathing exercises. Yoga asanas (postures) and Yoga Nidra for children then followed.

IMG_9382

In the first part of the program,  ‘Freedom’ meditation was introduced which helped the children to get total freedom from their fears.

Throughout the entire program, the emphasis was on the importance of keeping the spine, the pillar and support of our life, erect during our daily activities. Hence, their attention was focused on the spine all the time.

With gratitude, children ate some fresh fruits. Afterwards, they listened to a moral story about a persistent frog. This story helped them understand why it is important not to listen to others’ opinions if we want to fulfill our dreams.

Overall it was a beautiful and fruitful session with the young ones!

Playful Yoga And Food Full Of Love

By Mohanji Acharyas Stasa Misic and Mina Obradovic

7th September 2019

A combination of yoga, meditation and veganism were conducted for the first time in Belgrade, Serbia.

Stasa conducted a yoga session of coordination exercises, balance and breathing exercises that were suitable for children.

This was eventually followed by Yoga Nidra for children and ‘Freedom’ meditation, both of which were conducted by Stasa. With full attention, enthusiasm and enjoyment, the children followed the programme, absorbing the ancient techniques for a healthy lifestyle.

f523f39f-5c57-4d09-8635-c6ebc87d5974

In the second part of the program, Mina explained in an interesting way to the children the benefits of a vegan and a vegetarian lifestyle and the harmful effects of eating meat. Already two of the participants (children) have expressed the desire to switch to a vegetarian diet out of compassion for animals after they attended Mina’s programme. All the children actively participated in the discussion and expressed their opinions. It was a real pleasure to hear the little ones talk about animal rights and how we can lead a healthy life without eating animal products.

In the end, everyone enjoyed delicious vegan sandwiches and a wonderful vegan cake that Mina made with a lot of love, specifically for the occasion.

Here’s what the kids said after the lecture on veganism:

“I would like to become a vegetarian.”
– Mina

“Mom, can I be a vegetarian?”
– Hana
