Meera Gopalakrishnan warmly invited us into her home and hosted us for a program, ‘A Journey into your inner space’ in Chennai, India. There were 8 participants of which 6 of them were new. The entire program was done in the local language – Tamil!
Meera, being an ardent devotee of Kanchi Sankaracharya (popularly known as Periyava) of the Kanchipuram Shankara Mutt had invited friends who were also devotees of Periyava.
Meera read a page from ‘The Power of Purity’ book with great bhaav which was summarised by the participants along with their viewpoints. The topic was human conditions!
Some stretches were done to loosen up the body before settling in for the ‘Power of Purity’ meditation in Tamil in Mohanji’s beautiful and powerful voice. Mohanji Energy Transfer was also done during the meditation. Emotions were released, visions and experiences felt as tears flowed freely during the meditation.
This is when the Masters – Mohanji and Kanchi Periyava revealed their presence in the room. Towards the end of the meditation, the gratitude song was played. I selected a very popular, devotional Tamil song on gratitude which is played after all homas, pujas and yagnas (sacred rituals that are done in India). The song is titled ‘Kurai ondrum Illai’ which roughly translates as ‘I am content with what I have, dear Krishna!’
After four lines of the song, the song on the mobile suddenly stopped and switched to another song in Tamil dedicated to Shankaracharya called ‘Vizhi kidaikkuma, abaya karam kidaikkuma.’ Meera and I looked at each other stunned.
The translation of this song is as follows:
“Will the Master see me? Will I be protected by him? Can I get protection at his feet?
One after the other when misfortunes strike, can I get to hear his voice saying not to fear?”
The song ended with ‘Hara Hara Shankara, Jaya Jaya Shankara!‘ At the end of this song, there was not a single dry eye in the room. Some of us had never heard this song before. There was complete surrender at the feet of the Guru, irrespective of the Master. Everyone felt the presence of the Masters and the energy in the room was very high.
After this incredible meditation, sharing of experiences began. One participant shared that she normally would sense the feet of Periyava on her crown (head) but that day during the meditation, she just felt that she did not exist and that she had merged into Periyava. There was no separation.
Here are some of the other shares:
“Namaskaram, I had a new experience with Periyava, the ultimate power “Guru”.”
“I really enjoyed this meditation. I feel very happy about having done this meditation.”
“It is a good experience and a new one. Lovely day!”
“I got a lot of peace of mind coming here. Thank you!”
“This meditation was very pleasant. The mind was very peaceful. It was calming. I am feeling a lot of purity within.”
After the lovely experience sharing and discussion on the presence of the masters, we concluded the program with the ‘Guru Paduka Stotram’ penned by Adi Shankara!
We were served a delicious sweet and fruits as prasad by Meera. A ‘Power of Purity’ book was also gifted to Meera.
Everyone wanted to have another ‘Power of Purity’ (POP) meditation soon. All the participants left happily with a commitment to meet once every month at this venue for POP.
There was a request for Mai-Tri Method for an eight-year-old boy. This boy had behavioural problems and was extremely hyperactive. The Mother reached out for help as she was losing her patience with him. I spoke to the boy for a few minutes and he willingly and happily agreed for a session. As I started the process, he was fidgety and kept giggling. But within five minutes, the child calmed down and stayed absolutely still with eyes closed. After the session, I casually asked him how he felt and his spontaneous reply was “Super, Aunty!” Pointing to Mohanji’s picture, he said that Mohanji had come and asked him in Tamil (‘Nalla irukaya?’) how he was and said “It is time to leave now. See you. Bye-bye!” The child was so calm after the session and quietly sat down with a book. Later I was told that he was quiet for the rest of the day.
In his most humble way, Mohanji gave each one of us what we required that day and taught us to accept all masters as one. Thank You Mohanji! There is indeed no separation. You and I are one!
